This policy emphasises social responsibility, safety and well-being of lives, property and the environment, and the guarantee that all services will be executed in the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

This Policy is incorporated in the Employment Terms and Conditions of Galaxia Marítima’s hiring of its employees any. Breaching of this policy is subject to disciplinary procedures.

Galáxia Marítima recognizes that the consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs is harmful to health and forbids the consumption or possession of alcohol and non-prescribed drugs in any of its facilities.

The company determines that the possession, selling, distribution or consumption of any of those substances within its premises is strictly forbidden by the top management.

The company encourages its employees to recognize that alcoholism and drug addiction are potentially harmful to the work, social and family environments.

The company advises all its new employees that they must inform to the doctor that coordinates the PCMSO (Medical Control and Occupational Health Program) about any use of chemical substance prescribed for therapeutic or preventive purposes, so the use can be allowed. Any non-prescribed medicine can be considered as narcotic, hallucinogen or a stimulating substance.

Galáxia Marítima informs that the employees are subject to undergo toxicological examination without prior notice.

By legal prerogative, it is strictly forbidden to use tobacco in common living areas. Tobacco, in Galáxia Marítima’s premises, must be used only in designated areas. However, Galáxia Marítima advises the employees, from employment date and in periodical campaigns, about heart diseases, allergies, headaches, eye irritation, sore throat, coughs, nausea and other problems caused by tobacco smoking.

The Policy on smoking is aimed mainly at protecting health and lives against the effects of passive smoking, and supporting those that wish to quit smoking.
